Zusammenfassung der Episode

Jeremy Kyle discusses the latest plans to toughen immigration rules are expected to be massively watered down today after a highly damaging battle within the Labour Party. Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood's proposals to make low-skilled foreign migrants wait far longer for 'settled' status in Britain have been rewritten after strong opposition from her party's left wing. Under the proposals, skilled workers would typically have to wait 10 years rather than the current five, but the lowest-paid workers, including care workers, would have to wait 15. The Home Secretary is now believed to be considering plans to treat care workers more like skilled workers, including doctors, who can “earn” reductions to their ILR wait by working in the public sector. Meanwhile, Andy Burnham is open to increasing financial assistance, i.e. reparations for Commonwealth countries, to help make amends for Britain’s role in the slave trade. The PM will consider demands for investment in healthcare and education from African and…

Banter Ban

Jeremy Kyle reacts as John Healey admitted last night he would not cut welfare before the next election. The Chancellor started the day by insisting handouts would be whittled down this parliamentary term. Britain’s annual welfare bill is on course to hit £431billion by 2031 — In the Budget on Wednesday Mr Healey said “There will be a reduction in the benefits bill. We’ll do that in a Labour way”. Treasury sources scrambled to downplay his commitment and suggested he had not made a firm pledge. At lunchtime yesterday No10 said the Government will not be setting an “arbitrary target or timetable” on reducing the welfare bill. This forced John Healey to completely U-turn last night by telling Channel 4: “It’s not correct to say that we are going to bring this welfare bill down in this Parliament because we’ve not set a timetable for that.” And now Andy Burnham now says he wants to make welfare cuts “as soon as possible” but refused to put a date on the promise. What a shambles! Treasury sources scrambled to…

Budget 2026: Burnham's Big Test

This morning with Jeremy Kyle it’s Budget Day - the first major test for Andy Burnham and John Healey. It’s reported that the Chancellor will swerve welfare reform in today's Budget – as he hands out billions of pounds more to benefit claimants. The Chancellor is said to be planning a 'steady-as-she-goes' Budget with some key measures to provide 'breathing space' to hard-pressed Britons. But Labour sources have told the Mail that the Chancellor has set aside £5.5billion to support a 3.5 per cent increase to benefits paid to ten million people despite official projections suggesting sickness benefits will jump from £83billion last year to £109billion by the end of the decade. He is also expected to earmark at least another £1billion to subsidise the fuel bills of those on benefits and low incomes this winter. But any immediate support for those not on benefits is expected to be modest, such as freezing NHS prescription charges at £9.90. Mr Healey was accused of an 'insult to families' yesterday after the…

Burnham's 100 Days

Jeremy Kyle unpacks Andy Burnham's first 100 days in No.10 Downing Street and while a fresh YouGov poll gives him a solid 46% approval rating—well ahead of what his recent predecessors managed at this stage—the real honeymoon test arrives tomorrow. Chancellor John Healey steps up to deliver his first major Budget. That said, Number 10 is already spending the morning on the back foot. Downing Street aides have been scrambling to walk back comments made by the Prime Minister on free movement, following reports that the UK has been holding talks with Brussels. It’s Burnham’s latest awkward blunder, coming just a couple of weeks after a climbdown over Russian interference in the Brexit vote. Meanwhile, Reform UK has been pitching its own answer to the nation's finances, promising £80 billion in savings by 2030 in what they’re calling their "Teal Budget." But the launch didn't quite go to plan. Nigel Farage admitted the party needs to win back ground after a rough summer, bluntly blaming his own staff's…
