Time for another deep dive into an iconic label. One of the scene’s finest. Starting in 1993 and still as influential today as it was all those years ago, this label has launched careers, defined the genre and had some of the best parties around. This mix is going to focus on the first 10 years. A set of tracks dominated by Roni Size, Die, Krust, Dillinja, and also remixes from Origin Unknown and M.I.S.T.. this is all beats, bass and funky as f**k! When you look back over these tunes you can hear and see why this label is still around. For every year represented this label produced one of the tune’s of that year… From Jazz Note in 94’, Play it For Me in 96’ or The Power in 2000, always at the cutting edge. Simply one of the best. Happy New Year! What better way to bring in 2026 than ..err... listening to music from over 30 years ago! But regardless, time to jump into one of the most influential years in the history of the scene, 1993. The sound that year was defined by a shift toward faster, darker, and more complex beats. The Jungle/Drum & Bass sound embedded now. Hardcore was flying in 93 too, but we’ll get to that in Pt.2. For this first part we have everything from Lemon D to LTJ, Scott & Keith to Studio Pressure. Snappy beats, rolling amens and a load of classics. Next event for me is b2b with Miles Insight at Mr Vee’s Birthday bash in Peckham, January 17th. Check the flyer for details! Since arriving on the scene in 1991 this London based producer has always been the standard for drums, bass and more bass. Working as Dillinja x Capone x Cybertron amongst other aliases this producer's sound is unapologetic, sonically awesome and instantly recognisable. We’ve decided to focus on our favourite time, so far, in his career, 1996 - 2001. This mix picks up tracks from this time across some of the biggest labels in the scene and includes a few game changing remixes for good measure. With the other 10, I’ve had a go. I’ve picked my 10 favourite tunes of the last 35 years. IMPRINTS - Reinforced Records (1990-1996) - d mix & Evolve Reinforced Records. Inspired by a night in the Jazz Cafe recently with 4 Hero, Fabio and Grooverider amongst others. I thought it was time to jump into a truly foundational label. One of the first i collected actually! Founded in ‘89 by Marc Mac and Gus Lawrence then joined by Dennis McFarlane. Most of the early releases were combinations of the founders themselves, 4Hero, Manix and Tek 9. Moving towards late ‘92/’93 the label was at the forefront of the darker side of the music. Looking at Goldie with Rufige, the continued work of Doc Scott and Nasty Habits, and not forgetting 4Hero and the techier sample led sound of theirs. You also have to mention the Enforcers Series that was so popular and are still so sought after! I’ve decided to focus on the earlier music from Reinforced, finishing up just about where the ‘2nd Phase’ started. I’ll take you right up to ‘96. I’ll dedicate a final section to one of my favourite producers, Nookie. Who took the…

Evenin’ all! Back in September 2018 we bought you ‘Break – The Remixes’ on our 61st Back To The Future Podcast (still available btw 😉 ). Over 6 years and another 40 or so shows later, we bring you the next chapter. Break is still as prevalent on this show today as he was then, maybe even more so, and just as Iconic. You hear his influence so much these days through other artists and labels. That’s how important ‘the Producers Producer’ has become. I spoke last time about his ability to transform any style or genre with a remix. This mix demonstrates his ability to do the same in collaboration. Whether with longtime musical partners like KYO, DLR, Total Science and Die or with the lesser spotted likes of Silent Witness, Mikal or Workforce his ingredients are always on display and unmistakable. The tracks covering the last 20 years, really show the class and range of his work. Back with a focus on an amazing stalwart of the scene. Back with another special mix from us! For this episode we are focusing on one of the foundation labels from the scene. Up with our next instalment of the Back To The Future Podcast, we return to our ‘Icon Series’. Previous alumni have been Calibre, Break, Rufige Kru and Ivy Lab. As you can see from that quality list, they have to be a bit special to make it… and our next graduates fulfil the brief here perfectly. Having produced some of the scene's most cutting edge music for 14 years, including 3 amazing albums, Delay No More, Mistress and How We Live, the Brighton based duo have been present across many of the best labels around including Shogun, Critical, Exit and Metalheadz. In 2016 they started their own razor sharp imprint, Ish Chat, home of the aforementioned ‘How We Live’ LP and my personal fave ‘Untitled Horn’. Wherever they’ve played and on whatever label they’ve appeared, you could always expect music with a clinical funk and an underlying soul. Jack is now producing as Workforce and already creating a strong reputation as a solo artist, though we wanted to celebrate the duo themselves and give you our highlights…

Not a podcast, but a really fun show on Eruption! A little Summer present from me to you! A selection of Soulful tracks…with an edge (you know me). These are tracks from around the last year and some fresh stuff from July 2022. Perfect for those very, very, very long drives. Something different from us here at Back To The Future HQ for this podcast. If you could imagine the two 8’s of #88 as two bald heads, well that works pretty good for us follically challenged DJs of a certain vintage… especially myself, Mr Evolve and extra specially for this show DJ Uplift. In fact myself and Uplift have been at this for a minute. We met on a station he ran in London, Addiction FM! .. err.. a few years ago... and It's always been a pleasure to b2b with him. A year ago we got together and played some of our favourite old music but for this show we wanted to do something different… Uplift has been producing and DJing this genre for a while and has music coming out on scene stalwart, Cantina Cuts. He also graces the show with some forthcoming music from others and an exclusive look at a nearly finished track from himself! With all that in mind I felt it best for him to supervise our first trip into this style for the show. What happened next was just like me and him on the radio in the 90’s,…

Back with the next of your Future, it’s time for outing number 87. Extra special show this month, joined by MC Fokus and Dan XS! Tomorrow marks the debut release for X Bar Theory, (XBT Vol.1) on the legend of a label, Dispatch - Big up https://soundcloud.com/anttc1. Check out the video below for the title track, Style & Substance! The track is absolutely full of both. In the interview we talk about the project, long distance collaborations and as always Hertfordshire… You can hear a sneak preview of the EP in the interview plus some more forthcoming Fokus goodness… Massive shout to https://soundcloud.com/the-medic-mc The mix is something else though! Dan XS seamlessly through the styles with dubs and classics, incredible DJ and a real gent. Fokus delivers as only he can, clinically lifting the music and as he’d say, preserving the artform. So much fun having the lads in the studio! So, a few new tunes to start, a couple to finish and possibly my favourite Marcus Intalex tune to finish as we remember him 5…

A little late but worth the wait… Fresh out the studio with a new show! A show jam packed with nearly 50 tracks, tracks from the last few weeks, tracks from a while back and tracks for an amazing cause. A last minute addition to the proceedings is an 11 minute mini mix of the unbelievable Sofa King Sick IV LP! 14 Tunes from across the scene’s best, pushing the boundaries and styles again in true Sofa Sound fashion. The stand out track for me, is in the mini mix, and it’s DLR and Script’s contribution ‘A Different Style’, shout to Mikey Script! Most importantly though is the music from the 3From and Last One. This show is dedicated to an amazing album, Together With Ukraine. Over 130 exclusive tracks, cross genre with an impressive list of producers and artists, all have volunteered their time and art for the greater humanitarian need. Included with the album is some stunning artwork, moving and evocative images that from a perfect accompaniment to the music. All revenue generated will be donated directly to…

Get ready for an extra special Back to the Future podcast, making his EruptionRadio.uk debut is DJ Evolve! We’ve been doing this for a bit, but it was good to be back live in the studio together! We decided to make the most of our time by heading into London for 20 Years Of Critical at Printworks. We trawled through the 200 + Critical tunes we own to get down to the 2 mixes, covering music from 2003 right up to this month… and whether it's the evolution of Enei, the collaborations (Circuits and Fade Black for inst) or even Charli Brix adding the soul to some of those tougher edges, it’s been a very special 20 Years. We continue with Critical for both the 3From and the Last One and a supporting cast of new music from the last month fills the rest. Enjoy / Share / Critical Music, completed it mate. As usual it’s jam packed with new music from the last month or so across a range of labels including The North Quarter, Vision, 1985, Carbon and Critical! This month we have a special 3From delivered by the most dedicated listener and his family, shout to @Noxxy1337 It’s weird uploading and promoting music with so much sadness in the air, be it the death of a true scene icon, R.I.P Skibadee!... or the horror of an invasion and the displacement of a peaceful people. I find music always helps me to stay grounded, positive and hopeful. So with that in mind, please enjoy the show. Welcome along to the least Christmassy Christmas show you’ll ever listen to. Not a sleigh, jingle or bell in sight. What there is though, is 47 tunes in just over 2 hours. We often struggle to record together these days, so this was a real treat. What we ended up with was 2 mixes, a few of my favourites from this year to open, a 3From an LP released this month, 3 new tracks as closers and an Evolve selected Last One. Evolve’s mix takes you from around 1998 to 2021, driven by a few tracks from the monumental ‘Hard Times’ LP released in 2008 on DNAudio interspersed with some of his faves from this last 20+ years. Mine is a full on party mix, with tracks ranging from 1997 right up to this month. A lively selection of classic tunes blended with what’s new and funky. A shout to the Eruption family as ever. Eruptionradio.uk - setting the standard! A massive shout to them for the recent 24 hours DJ-athon in the name of Centrepoint. Please use this link if you’d like to do your bit.…

So… here we go again! A slightly belated Back to the Future, #82 to be precise. A little late, but jam packed with new music and a returning feature. Following the success of the all Evolve affair we are back this month with another special show to mark our 80th outing. This month joined by legendary MC, Fokus. Having emerged onto the scene in the early 00’s, based in Hertfordshire, Fokus has been building his reputation locally, nationally and internationally for over 20 years. We first met on Hertfordshire’s Impact FM around 2000/1. We were also lucky enough to acquire his talents for our Drum Project events. From his time on Origin FM, to London events like Traffic, Renegade Hardware and the legendary Therapy Sessions, Fokus has been learning his craft well. I was lucky enough to watch him at his best at the Sofa Sound event in Bristol in September 2019, he was absolute class. As you can see from his discography, versatility is key. Fokus is at home on a deep rolling beat as he is on the toughest and darkest of drums. Right from his first release in 2011 to now his choices for collaboration are important to him. A long standing partnership with show…
